Some of the main monuments in the city include St. Mark’s Square, with the intricate profile of the Basilica, the imposing mass of the Doge’s Palace, St. Mark’s Clocktower and the Palazzo della Zecca, now housing the Marciana Library. But you don’t need to move far away to be immediately enraptured by the beauty of other monuments, by statues that recount the city’s stories and legends, to arrive in a square or follow the suggestive Riva degli Schiavoni, leading to the Castello area and the Biennale Gardens, passing in front of the Arsenale, one of the most imposing architectural complexes on the whole lagoon.
