Airports
Near Florence is the Amerigo Vespucci airport, but the main point of reference for those arriving in or leaving from Tuscany’s capital is the Galileo Galilei international airport in Pisa, which can be reached by efficient public and private transport services. However, the Florence airport currently offers a connection
service to 6 other Italian cities and 18 important European cities, allowing you to reach the city directly without having to go to Pisa.
Trains
The city of Florence has 11 train stations, some of which are used for local trains. As well as this local traffic, the station of Santa Maria Novella also welcomes national and international travellers. The station is a masterpiece of Rationalist architecture and was designed by Giovanni Michelucci according to the logic of modern functionality. Work in the last decade of the twentieth century widened the internal spaces, giving the station more shops and allowing visitors a little pleasant relaxation before catching their trains.
Public Transport
Florence’s historic centre is not extremely large, but it may be practical and handy to use the public transport service, which has a series of short bus routes (and longer routes to areas nearby). The unique structure of the historic centre and the increase in traffic has made it inevitable that some areas of the town are (totally or partially) off-limits for cars, restoring the pleasure of walking through streets along which you can see some of the main monuments and palaces. For those who want to move around the city centre quickly, we advise you use a bike. Riding along the cycle paths available will allow you to admire the city from a different point of view.
